Sitting in the student lounge in the BP John building at Marylhurst. My first class on-campus starts in just over half an hour.
Watching the rain come down in a light shower outside, vertical lines of water connecting the scant clouds overhead to the ground below, illuminated by the sun setting over the hills in the distance.
Half-dozen people in the lounge with me, none of whom I know, some of whom I will know soon as they are reading one of the textbooks for the class that is about to start.
Been on campus for a few hours, since 3 (saw Lizzie driving away), as I wasn’t sure when the cafeteria closed (11:30 to 1:30? Really?) or how long it would take me to reach campus (ended up being about a 95 minute commute across 3 busses).
It is very quiet here, even hearing the music classes perform, or the crows cawing, still much calmer and more relaxed than PCC Cascade was. Side effect of not being an urban campus I suppose, or of having the smaller student body.
The rain has stopped. A couple more people have come into the lounge to sit and relax or study or wait.
Thirty minutes to go. The bell tower is calling out the turning of the hour.
